I have sat down to write probably 183 times in the last few months. And I have come up with about 183 reasons why I was never able to put something in words. No motivation. No inspiration. I had no idea what direction, what destination or what journey I wanted to go on. I was lost and I was stuck. How do you do something when you have no idea what it is you are supposed to do? You have to start somewhere.
So I did.
There are times in life when you need a little bit of motivation to keep you going. Just a little surge of energy to keep you excited about your goals. And then there are other times when you are far past that. I’m far past that. I don’t need a little pick me up to re-focus and get back on the right path. I need the motivation and energy to START OVER! To reinvent my path and discover the courage to let go and start again.
“It’s never too late to be who you might have been.” – George Eliot
I love this quote because it reminds me that it doesn’t matter what decisions I’ve made in the past, or how old I am, I can always start to take the steps towards discovering my true purpose. I have the power to do whatever I want with my life. I don’t have to wait, I can start RIGHT NOW!
Even if I’m not exactly sure what it is I want, I do know I want something more. Sometimes I won’t start doing something because I’m not sure what my “end game” is. But I don’t have to be afraid of knowing how things are going to end up, because there is actually no possible way to know that. I need to have confidence that any step in a positive direction is a good thing. Life is made up of many, MANY different paths. There is nothing that says that once I start one, I HAVE to stay on it. I can make detours and explore new ideas. I can even make a u-turn and start all over. I’ve discovered that there is no reason for me to feel stuck anymore.
“People are capable, at any time in their lives, of doing what they dream of.” — Paulo Coelho
So I’m going to start. Sometimes starting something is as easy (or scary) as just starting somewhere!
