Life after having a Stillborn

Today is still-born awareness day. Our daughter, Aria Dawson, changed my life on May 19, 2011.   Too many women suffer in silence, because this topic is so uncomfortable.  Others don’t know how to help with the grieving process, so often times the Mother feels alone. I am so glad we have a day like today to bring awareness and support. I would have been lost without the support we received from the Funeral Home, the cemetery, the group SHARE who offered counseling, helped dress Aria and did molds of her hands and feet, and for Now I Lay Me Down To Sleep for the beautiful pictures they did of...

Perfectly Patriotic

When my husband and I were dating we asked all of the “get to know you” questions.  What’s your favorite color? What’s your dream vacation?  What’s your favorite holiday?  My answer was Halloween.  His was Fourth of July.  I smiled and knew that he was a keeper.  I had never got that answer before.  His heart was perfectly patriotic. “You have to love a nation that celebrates its independence every July 4th, not with a parade of guns, tanks, and soldiers who file by the White House in a show of strength and muscle, but with family picnics where kids throw Frisbees, the potato salad gets iffy, and the flies...

You have to start somewhere

start somewhere

I have sat down to write probably 183 times in the last few months.  And I have come up with about 183 reasons why I was never able to put something in words.  No motivation.  No inspiration.  I had no idea what direction, what destination or what journey I wanted to go on.  I was lost and I was stuck.  How do you do something when you have no idea what it is you are supposed to do?  You have to start somewhere. So I did. There are times in life when you need a little bit of motivation to keep you going. Just a little surge of energy to...

Teacher Gift – Best Teacher in the World

I feel really lucky because for the most part (except for ONE first grade teacher) my kids have always had great teachers.  Teaching is so hard, and putting up with our little darlings day in and day out has got to be so dang exhausting!  Celebrate your teacher and show your appreciation with this easy to make teacher gift. With Teachers Appreciation Week next week I wanted to get something for my daughter’s teacher that she could help me make, and something that her teacher would appreciate!  I work down at the school a lot, and so I’ve talked with many of the teachers down there and they honestly ALL...

Celebrate March

“Regular, consistent celebration pulls us back to remembering God’s goodness.” ― Afton Rorvik Living in Utah, I get super excited about the prospect of Spring.  When the calendar says March I start to get a little giddy.  This winter we got a LOT of snow, which is fun in it’s own right.  But, I’m ready to celebrate Spring.  Here is a list of things to do this month to Celebrate March....

25 Simple Self Care ideas

25 self care ideas

About two years ago I got very good at taking time for myself.  Before it was more of a thought –  “Ya, I probably should take time out for me.”  But it was usually just that.  A thought.  I knew self care was important.  I just didn’t realize how much I needed it. “Love yourself first and everything else falls into line. You really have to love yourself to get anything done in this world.” Lucille Ball I started to take time at the end of each day to take a bath.  Life Changing.  That time to just escape away and be by myself to soak, listen to music, read...

50 Random Acts of Service for your Spouse

service for your spouse

Even though Valentine’s Day is over, we thought we would still share this list we created last year.  We have 50 Random Acts of Service for your Spouse to help motivate you to show your love!  A good marriage is one that is nurtured.  Show love and gratitude all year long with these fun ideas. February Random Acts of Kindness

Acts of Kindness

I love that LOVE is the focus of February.  Not just for your partner or spouse, but love for self, nature and others.  I was inspired to share the love this year.  My hope is that by spreading love and kindness this month, I will inspire others to do the same.  If we all do one kind act a day, this world would be a MUCH better place.  Acts of Kindness, one by one, add up to one happy place. We created this calendar to help remind you to take action.  I know that for myself I am always thinking of doing nice things for others, but I become too...

Sweet-Me Free Printable

Free Sweet Printable

I get asked a lot on why I chose the name Sweet-Me for the The Sweet-Me Project. It’s kind of a long story, but this quote kind sums it up pretty well. We wanted to offer this Sweet Me free printable for you to download as a Thank You for your encouragement!   “I am beginning to learn that it is the SWEET, simple things of life which are the real ones after all.” – Laura Ingalls Wilder At a time in my life when I felt like I was just going through the motions I realized that there was more.  More to life, more to me.  I didn’t want...
